Beagle City Players Dominate in the inaugural WMWA Season Ending Tournament...

The WMWA's first annual Two-on-Two Tournament saw 19 teams battle throughout the day
on Sunday in hectic 3-inning games until only the original Beagle City twosome of Mario
Cosentini and John Matte were left standing.  Congrats to Mario and John for taking home the
title and the first place cash prize of $550.  The third member of Beagle City, Rusty Ficarra,
teamed up with Snapdragon Scott Johnston and took 2nd place ($210) much to the chagrin of
the other two Snappers.  Thanks to all that participated in the tourny, and a special thanks
goes out to the new teams that showed up and got their clocks cleaned as they learned the
rules of the game the hard way.  Photos of all the action will be posted when I get around to it.

The wiffleball season ended yesterday with a one day triple elimination style tournament.
The power-house “Friends Forever” team which consisted of myself and Scotty managed
to take second place.  Our MVP goes to Greenhouse Gassers for not showing up which
made Scotty and I $105 richer.  I learned two things about Scotty this past Sunday.  One,
he's a great teammate and two, I think he may have manipulated his 2008 pitching stats.
He was the league leader in saves with 8, but I watched him nearly blow an 11 run lead.  I
think the committee will have to meet and determine whether he should play next summer.
There is a list of 100 players that have cheated on their wiffleball stats.  97 players remain
after Royal Flush was outed this past summer.  I think we should all give them a break,
they never were that great when it came to math.  I can’t help but wonder if this incident
would have occurred if Josh’s sister was still keeping stats.  They were left to fend for
themselves.  I don’t want to point fingers, but I think the real crime here was committed by
his sister.  Maybe she received a better offer from the Southwick league, or maybe she
realized getting up early to watch wiffleball probably wasn’t in the top 100 best ways to
spend a Sunday morning.  I’m sure the Flush will be back when they make parole in May
2010.  They were wondering if they changed their team name, would anyone notice it was
them?  They’ll be without Colin for an indefinite period of time because he broke into the
warden’s office to play Motzart’s Canzonetta sull aria over the loud speaker.  This tipped the
guards off to check his cell where they found hidden behind a poster of the Olson twins
(circa 1992) a man made tunnel.  He made three attempts to escape, but the crawl through
corn and feces got to him each time.  Well I hope we all learned a valuable lesson this
year, honesty is the best policy and by default, dishonesty is second best.
Dear Bupka...  (11/3)
For all you clowns that have been holding your breath in giddy anticipation for
the announcement of the 2009 WMWA MVP... prepare for a massive
buzz-kill.  It's the 2002 MLB All Star Game all over again!  Ladies and
gentlemen, we have a tie!  UGH!  Mario Cosentini and Chris Viale each
collected 21 points (of a possible 30) in the MVP voting.  They were also the
only two players that appeared on every ballot submitted by the Competition
Commitee.   Congrats to both of them for their great seasons.  Mario also
won the Silver Slugger and the Golden Hands awards, while teammate Rusty
Ficarra won his first Cy Young.  Take a look below to see the vote totals...
