Beagle City Players Dominate in the inaugural WMWA Season Ending Tournament...
The WMWA's first annual Two-on-Two Tournament saw 19 teams battle throughout the day on Sunday in hectic 3-inning games until only the original Beagle City twosome of Mario Cosentini and John Matte were left standing. Congrats to Mario and John for taking home the title and the first place cash prize of $550. The third member of Beagle City, Rusty Ficarra, teamed up with Snapdragon Scott Johnston and took 2nd place ($210) much to the chagrin of the other two Snappers. Thanks to all that participated in the tourny, and a special thanks goes out to the new teams that showed up and got their clocks cleaned as they learned the rules of the game the hard way. Photos of all the action will be posted when I get around to it.

FEES: The league fees were pre-paid once again this year, which
means that entry fees are due asap! Please square up your balances.
SAVE THE DATE! Our summer tournament is scheduled for
Saturday, August 14th - rain or shine! Please follow the link
for registration information.
Week 11... Yowsers! Someone finally woke up that Empire
offense from their season long nap! The Empire put up a 2010
week high of 56 runs, sweeping the Stallionz. Matt Catellier was
28-36 on the day 10 homers and 22 RBIs. Bobo Downie chipped
in with 7 and 15 and Caesar Willetts had 7 and 19... The Gassers
increased their first place lead by taking three from Cambridge.
Rusty Ficarra knocked in the game-winner in extra innings in
game 1, and Dave Bodendorf had 2 wins on the mound... Beagle
City took 2 of 3 from the Scorpions in a close series. Mario
Cosentini had 12 RBIs including a walk-off triple in game 3. Chris
Havener hit 4 homers for the Scorps to move within 5 of the
league lead...
We have a light schedule this week including the Watermelon
Rematch... that's why me and Matt took the high road and left
Havener in charge! Keep recruiting for the tournament!
Dear Bupka...
I was able to attend the open casket
wake for Gary Coleman. Pictures are
usually frowned upon at this sort of
event, but Bupka has no class nor
boundaries. Gary was most noted for
his role as Arnold in the sitcom Diff'rent
Strokes and more notably remembered
for his career spiraling downward
afterward. Gary is not to be confused
with his tiny sitcom counter part
Webster. He's mostly noted for burning
down Ma'am and George's apartment.
Webster sure was a little prick that
couldn't handle a chemistry set. To be
honest, I think he had some built up
hostility brewing in that miniature body
of his after learning he was actually
adopted. It took him like 11 years to
figure it out, I wonder what gave it away?
Was Webster a spin off from Diff'rent
Strokes? Two tiny people adopted by
white folk...wow the writers sure were
creative with that one. We will be taking
a moment of silence before Sundays
game and we'll all be wearing a black
arm band in recognition of Gary. For
those of you who want to make this a
racial thing, we have white arm bands
as well.
